BRACEBRIDGE WOMAN AMONG 4 CHARGED IN MUSKOKA DRUG RAIDS
MUSKOKA — A months-long drug investigation has ended with a Bracebridge woman and three other people charged after raids at homes in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Toronto and Mississauga that netted police cocaine, heroin and $40,000 in cash.
Provincial police say that in early 2021 the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began investigating suspected drug trafficking in Muskoka.
On Wednesday, with the assistance of the Central Region Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Peel Regional Police Tactical Unit, they executed four search warrants and found “significant evidence” of drug trafficking.
In total police seized 360grams of cocaine, 2grams of crack cocaine, 2grams of heroin, 6 Percocet pills, 7 LSD tablets, 3 expandable batons, a prohibited knife, brass knuckles, a replica BB gun, 24 cellphones, a money counter and more than $40,000 in cash.
The following people have been charged:
Tammy Smyth, 40, of Bracebridge:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
James Mondaca, 32, of Mississauga:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of a Schedule III Substance S. 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 S. 354(1)(a) CCC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon S. 91(2) CCC
Dayan Sabando-Paredes, 30, of Richmond Hill:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance S. 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 S. 354(1)(a) CCC
Jordan Francis, 26, of Brampton:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
- Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance S. 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of a Schedule III Substance S. 4(1) CDSA
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 S. 354(1)(a) CCC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon S. 91(2) CCC
- Three counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose S. 88 CCC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon S. 91(2) CCC
All four are to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Bracebridge June 29, 2021.
