STORE OWNER CHASES DOWN MAN CAUGHT WITH $250 IN MEAT THEFT
ORILLIA — An Orillia man who was caught holding a bag of meat after being pursued by the store owner has now been charged.
Police say they arrested and charged a shoplifter with theft and recovering numerous stolen items.
The say just after noon that back on Jan. 3, officers received a phone call from a store owner who said a shoplifter had left his business with a bag full of stolen items and that the owner was following the suspect on foot.
Police quickly located the suspect and arrested him on Fittons Road.
They found him carrying $250 worth of stolen meat in a bag.
Christopher Slauko, 45, of Orillia, has been charged with Theft under $5000 — shoplifting; and Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Police say due to a number of outstanding charges, Slauko was held in custody to appear the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie, Feb. 4.
