SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — A Huntsville man is among a positive drop to 52 COVID cases today in Simcoe and Muskoka.
After some confusion about reporting dates and times, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) says in a note on its Health Stats page that as of Jan. 7 daily case counts are based on data received by 11:59 p.m. the previous day.
That means today’s numbers are as of last night, Jan. 6, at midnight.
The Huntsville man was aged 45-64 in a congregate setting.
This as Huntsville resident Dave Kealey, 61, is the third person in Muskoka to die from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, they say 4,316 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine administered in Simcoe Muskoka (not including South Simcoe), mainly to health care workers in local hospitals, long-term care and retirement homes.
There were 594 administered alone yesterday.
As well, there have been 443 new cases this week and 377 last week (beginning Dec. 27).
Ontario set another record with 3,519 cases, and a staggering 89 deaths.
In York Region cases continue to soar at 457; in Toronto it was 891, Peel 568, Windsor-Essex 208, Waterloo 175, one more than Durham
Quebec, which is about to go into curfew this weekend, had 2,519 cases and 74 deaths.
Manitoba had 208 cases and 12 people died. New Brunswick reported 24 cases and 2 deaths in LTC homes.
