MUSKOKA RECOVERY SURVEY ASKS COTTAGERS ABOUT COVID PLANS

Mark Clairmont | MuskokaTODAY.com

MUSKOKA — The road to recovery that’s hit September speed bumps begins in the GTA.

And ends in Muskoka … with the District of Muskoka’s Economic Recovery Task Force and its business partners surveying seasonal residents and cottage association members in letter directed to them this week.

No doubt a similar letter to the local citizenry is in the mail.

It’s follows a controversial early spring when the welcome mat was pulled for cottagers, which was largely ignored, and led to a slow summer for most — but not all residents, businesses, workers and tourists.

“We are seeking your help to complete a short survey on your plans for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. Your feedback and input will help us and the business community better understand what we might expect going forward.

“The COVID pandemic has placed us all into very new circumstances and we realize travel, work locations and leisure activities are now very different.

“Please take a moment to complete our short survey (approx. 3 min to complete), it will be open until the end of day, Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

“Together we all share a common love for Muskoka and all of what it has to offer. It is our hope that you will consider spending more time here and we look forward to hearing from you.

“Should you or anyone have any questions or require any further information on this survey, please contact David Sword of the District Municipality of Muskoka as follows: david.sword@muskoka.on.ca. You can be assured of his interest and enthusiasm.

“Thank you in advance for your time.”

The letter signed, “Sincerely …,”

“Mayor Paul Kelly – Gravenhurst

“Mayor Terry Glover – Lake of Bays

Mayor Phil Harding – Muskoka Lakes

Mayor Peter Koetsier – Georgian Bay

Mayor Graydon Smith – Bracebridge

Mayor Karin Terziano – Huntsville

John W. Klinck District Chair – District of Muskoka

One of the questions on the survey asks about intentions for the fall. Another asks about winter plans, as well.
The Muskoka Economic Recovery Task Force is comprised of the six municipalities and chambers of commerce.
