COVID TESTING 101: WHERE TO GET SWABBED IN MUSKOKA

MUSKOKA — Are you asymptomatic or do you have a fever, cough, headache or difficulty breathing?

Those who are infected with COVID-19 may have little to no symptoms.

You may not know you have symptoms of COVID-19 because they are similar to a cold or flu.

But if you do feel ill or need a certificated to get your child back in school or to visit a loved one in long-term care ….

Here’s quick tutorial on how and where to get tested for COVID-19.

Ontario has made significant changes to eligibility for COVID-19 testing.

Testing locations in Muskoka are following the latest public health guidelines from the Ministry of Health for prioritizing those individuals who are at greatest risk.

To get the latest information about it and where you should be tested visit www.ontario.ca/covidtest for testing criteria.

First, if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, you must go to an Assessment Centre instead of a pharmacy for testing.

See below where to go as each testing location operates differently:

Bracebridge Assessment Centre

  • At South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH)
  • Run by Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare
  • Hours: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • By appointment only (no walk-ins)
  • Call 1-888-383-7009 to book a test
  • Location: Portable next to helipad at the back of the hospital Site, 75 Ann St., Bracebridge

Huntsville Assessment Centre

  • Active Living Centre behind Summit Centre
  • Run by the Town of Huntsville, Huntsville physicians and District of Muskoka
  • Hours: Only Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • No appointment necessary, first come first served
  • Location: 20 Park Drive, Huntsville, next to high school and arena

Huntsville Shoppers Drug Mart

  • Provincially-sanctioned
  • Run by pharmacy
  • Hours: Daily
  • Testing for select eligible individuals who are asymptomatic —not — showing coronavirus symptoms.
  • To see if you meet the criteria for testing at pharmacy locations, please visit: www.ontario.ca/covidtest
  • By appointment only (no walk-ins); call 705-789-4471 — Ext. 33
  • Pharmacist will first screen you by phone and provide an appointment time if you are eligible for this testing.
  • Location: 51 King William St, Huntsville
