The deadline for ordering butterflies for their uplifting Sept. 13 event has been extended to 4 p.m. Aug. 10.

One butterfly is $30 and it’s four for $100.

Also, you can check out their event on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/583624402357568

After postponing the event due the pandemic, they are now back on track for a release a month from now, on Sept. 13.

“We were saddened to postpone our Annual Butterfly Release due to COVID-19. We know how important this celebration of life is and particularly so, during this time of isolation, anxiety and life-altering change.”

“Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to participate in our “Virtual Butterfly Release” Sept. 13,” they say on their website.

Here’s what will happen that day:

9-11 a.m.: Pick up your program and butterfly to release at home.

Locations in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Port Carling will be confirmed and advertised in local newspapers, at www.hospicemuskoka.com, and on social media by mid-August. Bring an insulated bag, cold pack and tea towel to keep your butterfly cool until you get home.

Limited delivery is available for those who live in south or west Muskoka who cannot pick up their butterfly, by calling 705-644-4397 before Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.

Noon: The link to our program of music, presentation of the names of those being remembered, and tribute to all of the “Heroes” that have stepped up for us all during this pandemic will go live at www.hospicemuskoka.com.

The farm where the butterflies grow assures us that the butterflies are much hardier at this time of year so the release should be quite remarkable and well worth the wait.

Order online Aug. 10 and watch the skies Sept. 13 at noon.
