FIRE MARSHAL INVESTIGATES $2.5M GRAVENHURST COTTAGE FIRE

GRAVENHURST — A massive fire that destroyed a cottage under construction early Monday — causing $2.5 million damage — saw the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office investigating the Lake Muskoka blaze.

Gravenhurst firefighters, who got the call about 8:30 a.m. off Muskoka Road 169 at McKenzie Road (just west of the Creative Plate Eatery restaurant), managed to contain the fiery scene and prevent it from doing more damage to other buildings on the property.

Using mutual aid, they called in Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, which also provided a fire boat to pour water on it from the lake.

There were no reports of injuries.
