SHOPLIFTING SPREE ENDS WITH ARREST IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — A North York man suspected of multiple shoplifting sprees here at a Shopper’s Drug Mart was arrested and charged yesterday early afternoon.

Provincial police said today that on Thursday April 23, at 1:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a complaint of a shoplifting at the store on Muskoka Road in Gravenhurst.

Police said in the release that the suspect is believed to be responsible for several thefts totalling hundreds of dollars at the same store and say the quick actions of staff on this date resulted in his arrest.

Police arrested 41-year-old Luka Demetrashvili.

He is charged with Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 7, 2020 to answer to the charge.
