DRIVER LOSES CONTROL NEXT TO COP SHOP

HUNTSVILLE An unlucky driver who lost control of his truck on a ramp near the OPP detachment here has landed in court charged with impaired driving after fleeing the accident last Thursday night.

Provincial police say that on April 23 at approximately 11:29 p.m. an officer observed a truck on the southbound ramp of Hwy. 11 at Ravenscliffe Road, which runs east of and adjacent to the Huntsville OPP detachment.

They say the truck lost control and came to stop.

The driver then started again and continued on Ravenscliffe Road, driving in a “concerning manner.”

The officer pulled the truck over and the resulting investigation led the officer to charge a 40-year-old Bradley Ellas, of Huntsville, with the following:

  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand contrary to section 320.15(1) of the Criminal Code.

Ellas was released and will be appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville Ontario, on July 8th, 2020 to answer to his charges.

As in all cases where a driver has been charged with impaired driving, Ellas’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded.

Huntsville OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from alcohol-impaired and drug-impaired drivers. The OPP is reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when operating a motor vehicle.

Police located a driver who lost control on the off-ramp near the detachment on April 23 and arrested him for impaired driving. Bradley Ellas is due in court July 8, 2020.
