UPDATE: SHOOTING FEAR FRIDAY PROVES FALSE

HALIFAX – A shooting scare here Friday afternoon proved false, the RCMP said after a few hours.

CBC and other media were reporting another shooting Friday afternoon about 3:30 p.m. ET in Halifax.

That after an official emergency alert went out and one report said it’s an active shooter and shots had been fired.

Residents were warned to “shelter in place” and lock doors, according to the alert.

The emergency alert, below, was sent to cell phones across the province.

It was also tweeted.

Dartmouth and Sackville businesses had also closed.

But about 5 p.m. ET the RCMP gave the “all-clear” after an extensive search that turned up nothing.

An hour later a national virutal tribute took place online.

There’s a report of a shooting in Halifax today, April 24, just hours before a vigil for the 22 killed Sunday.
