HUNTSVILLE WOMAN FOUND WITH LOADED HANDGUN

HUNTSVILLE A Huntsville woman and man from Mississauga will be bail court Thursday morning after a loaded handgun, drugs and cash were seized in a police stop here early this afternoon.

Provincial police say that on Wednesday, March 18, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit conducted an investigation that resulted in the seizure of the gun, a controlled substance and cash.

The OPP say that at 1:55 p.m. two traffic stops were conducted on Highway 60 in Huntsville and the pair were arrested for possession of controlled substances.

The woman was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A search revealed a loaded .40 calibre handgun, approximately 7.5 grams of crack cocaine and nearly $2,700 in cash.

As a result of this investigation, two people have been charged:

Kristy Clarke, 38, of Huntsville, and Tyrese Douglas-Hodgson, 20, of Mississauga.

Clarke is charged with:

  • Being the Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there Was a Firearm contrary to Section 94 of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • She was also arrested for Warrant for Fail to Attend Court.

Douglas-Hodgson faces eight charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Unauthorized Possession of Restricted Firearm contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm contrary to Section 95(a) contrary to Section 95(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Carry Firearm in a Careless Manner contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal code of Canada;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing the Serial Number has been Tampered With contrary to Section 108(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

They are being held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge tomorrow, March 19, 2020, for a bail hearing.
