MUSKOKA — Pandemic precautions mount in Muskoka as March break begins and best laid plans are laid to waste.
As panic borders mass hysteria, concerns and cancellations are everywhere.
Business groups, service groups, churches and most Canadians are preparing for an expected worst to come with the Coronavirus.
While Ontario public school close for three weeks, governments and NGOs are following the news by the hour and playing it by ear how they will respond while taking proactive actions to prevent COVID-19’s spread.
A St. Paddy’s Day Salute scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at the Rene Caisse Theatre, a fundraiser for the auditorium featuring the Muskoka Concert Band, has been postponed indefinitely.
Gravenhurst’s Fine Films’ movie night next Tuesday, March 17, has been postponed two months. They said Friday they’ve rescheduled their screening of Pain and Glory for June 16.
Others are considering similar changes.
In a letter to all parishioners, the local Anglican diocese has sent out guidelines from church bishops saying they will not use a common cup for communion.
However, they will still serve communion wafers.
But they won’t have coffee hour after the service, and the collection plate will be at the church entrance, where parishioners can place their envelope prior to the service.
They added that all ministries and events will continue as usual while we evaluate from week to week.
Meanwhile, the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce has forwarded workplace guidelines to its members from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) on how to manage the growing crisis.
One is a checklist for how to engage employees; along with other related workplace tips to help manage the economic impact.

Meanwhile, local Rotarians won’t be going to an annual planning retreat in North Bay next month, which has been postpoined.
