2 DEAD IN FIRE

Kawartha — Two people died and five others escaped a home fire this morning near Seabright.

Provincial police say that at 8:39 a.m., they were called to a residential fire on Young Street in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP attended the residence and continue to be on scene, along with members of the Ontario Fire Marshals office, as the investigation is on-going.

An initial investigation indicated five persons were able to escape the residence without injury.

Unfortunately two others died.

Police say that at this time the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
