HUNTSVILLE — A year after the last municipal election, Huntsville has a second mayor.

Following the federal election of former mayor Scott Aitchison as MP-elect, at a special council meeting Nov. 12, councillors declared the office of the mayor vacant.
They appointed deputy Mayor Karin Terziano as acting mayor and head of council according to the Municipal Act until the vacancy is filled.
In a town release, they say the resolution appointing Terziano has been forwarded to the District of Muskoka council for their consideration, where it is expected she will be approved to sit at district council.
Huntsville’s municipal clerk was told to bring a report to the next regular council meeting Nov. 25, with options to fill Terziano’s temporary appointment.
