A 911 call sent Gravenhurst Fire Department members out to the west end of town Tuesday evening, July 30, for a report of structure fire.
“Crews responded and found a small kitchen fire extinguished by the occupant prior to their arrival,” said Deputy Chief Todd Clapp.
He said crews checked for fire extension and ventilated the building.
“Kudos goes to the occupant for having a working portable fire extinguisher nearby and knowing how to use it.
“They no doubt prevented the incident from turning into something much larger,” he said.
