AIRPORT FIRE BRINGS ABOUT MUTUAL AID AGAIN

GRAVENHURST — What a team — make that teams.

Mutual aid came to the rescue again today, Aug. 2, when Gravenhurst firefighters called on their counterparts in Bracebridge to help out with a growing grass fire at the Muskoka Airport on their shared border.

It was just like the recent blaze when Bracebridge called on Gravenhurst for help with the big lumber fire.

And again Muskoka Lakes Township firefighters joined the team — this time provided backup while the crews were busy along Hwy. 11.

Gravenhurst Fire officials tweeted that the fire began mid-afternoon and they were still on the scene into the early evening.

Cooperation is the name of the game this summer for local firefighters.
