SWIM ALERT RETURNS TO GULL LAKE ROTARY PARK BEACH

GRAVENHURST — The summer of fun is turning in to challenge for water worshippers.

Swimmers in Gull Lake are urged to do with caution and not to put their head below surface or get water in their mouth.

Yesterday (July 22), the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit returned to Gull Lake Rotary Park Beach to test the waters again.

Today, they recommend that swim advisory signs be re-posted — a second time this month.

During a swimming advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers that may increase your risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If you choose to swim during a swimming advisory avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.

As a result the Town will be providing modified swimming lessons at the beach and will be in contact with all participants should there be further changes to the schedule.

The town will continue to communicate with the public as new updates become available.
