MUSKOKA — As emergency help pours into Muskoka, an army of amateur photographers have been flooding social media with vivid images.
As of Thursday, 160 Canadian Armed Forces reservists from Toronto have arrive in Bracebridge and have spread out across the stricken Heart of Muskoka community.
As well, a team of Peel Region search and rescue volunteers are also now going door-to-door to check on homeowners.
Here’s a few sent to MuskokaTODAY.com from across Muskoka of the overwhelming, unprecedented and sometimes unbelievable fallout from Mother Nature.
A few are aerial photos from the Beaumont Farm area in Bracebridge along the Muskoka River near where it flows into Lake Muskoka.
Randy Potts, who owns the Peerless II and Idylwood tour boats on the Muskoka River, said Thursday morning that Transport Canada has just issued a restriction on boating traffic affecting the navigable waters of the Muskoka watershed.
His Idylwood boat, which he retired two years ago, had a big maple tree come down on it Monday when the soft, eroding riverbank gave way. He said the Peerless was OK, just minor damage to an alumninum railing.
He still hopes to get as usual for regular cruises June 16, Father’s Day and a week or two before for private cruises including a wedding.

Even back from the winding Muskoka River’s north branch homes are flooded.

Muskoka Steamships manager John MIller sent this photo of the Segwun and Wenonah II.
