GRAVENHURST BRACES FOR RISING WATER LEVELS

GRAVENHURST — Top-down management doesn’t appear to be helping as flood waters are reaching the bottom of the region’s catch basin with serioius consequences.

As towns north and west delcare states of emergerncy, Gravenhurst is just now receiving its highest levels in a week.

As the effects trickle down to the Severn River to its southern border, Gravenhurst Bay is experiencing much higher than normal levels.

At the Muskoka Wharf, the Segwun and Wenonah II are close to floating above their old federal dock mooring ties.

Town works crews have been forced to put sand bags at its edge to preven water from reaching the Muskoka Steamships offices.

This as everyone braces for more rain the coming days that are expected to rise water levels further.
