Holiday cheer for babies born at Christmas time

BRACEBRIDGE — The first born in 2019 will start a new life and new year with some more cool stuff.

It’s not exactly frankincense, gold and myrrh, but the plush toys will no doubt be much appreciated by some new families.

A tradition at local hospitals to provide the New Year’s baby with a few basic essentials, and gifts for mom and babe, got nice boost from a local donor.

And she’s including even babies born around Christmas time 2018.

Tammy Laskowski, a Bracebridge area resident, made arrangements to donate items to the obstetrics unit.

Algonquin Healthcare RN Mary Claire Cairns, left, accepts the basket of goodies from local resident Tammy Laskowski this week. They are items for a new baby born at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital site at Christmas time.
