Hidden Valley ski hill opens this weekend with $25 daily fee

HUNTSVILLE Get out your skis and snowboards.

All this snow has the team at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area giddy for the opening weekend.

Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area welcomes the cold and snow this week for its opening weekend and a chance to make more snow.

They can “hardly hold back their excitement,” says Andrew Rusynyk, the general manager of the local ski area

“Opening weekend is finally here!” they say in an excited email blast.

Hidden Valley will be open Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 8-9) for the weekend with the lifts open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days for skiers and snowboarders.

Lifts tickets will be only $25 plus tax for a whole day of skiing and snowboarding. The Blue Quad chairlift will be open and there will be several terrain park features to play on.

“We are ready to go and looking forward to another fun season on the slopes,” says Rusynyk. “We will open for the weekend and then return the focus back to snowmaking and getting the rest of our terrain open.”

Lack of consistent cold weather has proven to be challenging for snowmaking so far this year, says Rusynyk, but they are looking ahead as there are a few windows of weather opportunity and the team is ready.

“We have all the snowmaking equipment ready to go and once the temperatures go below minus five we will start up and continue to open terrain as it becomes available,” he said.

“We will have most of the terrain open and in great shape for the holiday season. We are all looking forward to getting on the snow and making some turns.”
