Woman trapped in Stubbs Falls rocks dies

HUNTSVILLE — A St. Catharines woman who became trapped under water at popular swimming site in Arrowhead Park has died.

Emergency crews found a woman trapped under water June 17 at Arrowhead Provincial Park.

Police said Tuesday, June 26, that the female camper succumbed to her injuries after being pulled out of the water at Stubbs Falls.

Angel Lacourse, 26, had been camping at Arrowhead Provincial Park for the weekend when she became caught in rocks Sunday, June 17.

Stubbs Falls is a popular are for hikers in the provincial park in Huntsvile.

Emergency crews were call about 5:30 p.m.

When police, fire and paramedics arrived, they found her completely submerged and trapped under a larger rock.

It was learned that she was up further in the falls and had slipped and went down with the fast running water.

Emergency workers were able to free her and transport her hospital at Huntsville.

She was later transported to hospital at Orillia, where she was in critical condition.
