Miller wins PS-Muskoka with 22,664 votes

PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA — In the end, three-and-a-half hours after instant results were expected, Norm Miller more than doubled his nearest challenger.

The incumbent MPP on the majority Tory team won last night’s provincial election with 22,664 votes.

As with the provincial race, the NDP came second, with local candidate Erin Horvath receiving 10,394 ballot nods.

That’s 12,270 vote advantage for Miller.

Green Party candidate Matt Richter was behind Horvath by a count of 979, with 9,438 votes.

He beat Liberal Brenda Rhodes — who picked up endorsements from 4,071 — by 18,593.

Independent Jeff Mole got 219 votes, Libertarian Chris Packer had 196, and Joshua MacDonald of the None of the Above Direct Democracy Party finished last with 172 supporters.

There were 76,385 eligible voters in the Parry Sound-Muskoka riding.

The turnout was 61.73 per cent — or about 47,306 voters.
