Armed robbery attempt thwarted in Washago Sunday night

WASHAGO — An armed robbery was thwarted Monday night when a customer entered a store here forcing a male to flee empty-handed.

A man wielding a knife and wearing a mask fled empty-handed from a would-be robbery June 3 in Washago.

Provincial police from Orillia say that on June 3 officers received a call of a robbery at a Washago business in the Township of Severn.

Police say that about 08:40 p.m. a lone male entered the business wearing a bandana that covered the lower portion of his face and approached the cashier while brandishing a knife.

He demanded the cash register to be opened.

However, the robbery was interrupted by a customer entering the store.

The male fled in a dark coloured two-door sedan, westbound on Muskoka Street.

No one was hurt during this incident.

The suspect is described as:

Caucasian male.

6 feet tall with muscular build and broad shoulders.

Short dark curly hair.

He was wearing a black shirt with a picture on it and dark clothing.

He also had tattoos on both arms.
