Wind storm keeps fire crews busy all weekend
HUNTSVILLE — Last weekend’s wind storm kept the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department busy with 33 calls for service between Friday, May 4 and Sunday, May 6.

While there were no injuries and most calls were for downed power lines and calls about carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and false fire alarms, an auto parts recycling facility and its contents were destroyed early Sunday on Aspdin Road about 2:30 a.m Sunday. It was unoccupied at the time.
Help from the Port Sydney and Lake of Bays stations was called in, said Mike Vadlja, fire prevention officer.
A nearby motorhome was serioiusly damaged.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s cause.
