GRAVENHURST — The Gravenhurst Horticultural Society is looking forward to meeting April 17 with a timely speaker, Ann Bossart, from the Parry Sound master gardeners on Pruning and Maintenance of Trees & Shrubs.

Next meeting April 17

Bossart will spur us on to do our spring pruning (correctly) on the next warm day.

As the weather warms we also are looking forward to using the grow room to produce plants for our annual May sale of plants and baking.

If the weather warms enough we will be Gardening Together on Wednesday, April 18 at 4 p.m. at the main street gardens. More on that at the meeting at the Seniors Centre meeting.

We are taking our turn hosting the District 18 Fall Workshop in September  and have an exciting speaker on a new topic lined up along with a fantastic hands-on workshop.

Also new this year is the start time for the meetings. It has been moved to 7 p.m. to accommodate an earlier finish, which will make it easier for speakers as well as members.

Your board looks forward to updating members on our exciting year ahead.

Sign up for the day trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens near Guelph.  Cost will be $55 for members, $65 for non-members and includes entry. There will be a pick-up in Bracebridge as well as Gravenhurst.

Membership remains $10 a year with a $2 fee at each meeting to help meet the cost of renting the room and kitchen as well as tea and coffee.

See you at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m.
