Drivers can stop, shop 3 hours in Gravenhurst

GRAVENHURST — There’s more to explore downtown, with at least a couple of new businesses open or opening.

And so, that means more time to enjoy the downtown and less time to worry about parking.

Following council’s decision on Tuesday April 17, Gravenhurst’s parking control bylaw was amended to increase the time alloted for parking in the downtown core of Gravehurst to three hours from two.

These changes follow a request by the Gravenhurst Business Improvement Area (BIA) to have the parking increased in the downtown.

Downtown signage is scheduled to be changed by early May to reflect the new parking time period.

“The BIA were looking to have the increase made to give downtown visitors more time to experience the attractions and businesses. To shop, to spend time at our Opera House and enjoy some extra time doing whatever they’d like to do in our downtown,” said Dustin Gronc, manager of bylaw services.
