New NDP president McConnell looking for candidate to win riding
BRACEBRIDGE — With the provincial election fast approaching, New Democrat Party members in Parry Sound-Muskoka are getting ready for it.
On March 24 they met at the Your Independent Grocer (YIG) Community Room for their annual general meeting and to elect an executive.
“This year’s AGM was well attended with lots of new energized and excited people ready for change,” said a release from riding vice president James Moffat.
He said: “We are thrilled to announce that Diana McConnell, a resident of Bracebridge and mother of two, is our newly-elected president.
“Diana is driven and passionate about growing the NDP membership throughout Parry Sound- Muskoka.
“2018 is the year for the NDP,” said Moffat.
“The NDP can win Parry Sound Muskoka.”
The party’s motto is Change for the Better.
Moffat said: “Our search committee is looking for a candidate to champion our vision and bring Parry Sound- Muskoka’s views to Queen’s Park in the June 7th Ontario election.
“Do you believe in social and economic justice? Do you believe that Ontario should be for the many, and not just the few?
“The Ontario NDP has a vision for a fairer, more equal Ontario.
“Maybe you are just the right person to advocate for us.”
Moffat added: “Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne is widely unpopular; Doug Ford is a reactionary, not Progressive Conservative.
NDP Leader “Andrea Horwath is a tested leader with an exciting, progressive platform that will help people be healthier, and make life more affordable in Ontario.”
