GRAVENHURST – Following the June 7 election to pick your MPP, voters return to the polls in Octorber to vote for town and district councilors.
The 2018 municipal election is Monday Oct. 22, and the Gravenhurst’s legislative services department wants to make sure you’re on the voters’ list with complete and accurate information! Your vote counts.
“Whether you’re a longtime voter or a first time voter, new to the area or lived here forever, your vote counts,” said town clerk Kayla Thibeault, director of legislative services. “We want to ensure all eligible voters are on the voters’ list and have the opportunity to participate in this year’s municipal election,” said Thibeault.
The legislative services department is advising members of the public to make sure they’re on the voters’ list by visiting www.voterlookup.ca. You can also contact the Gravenhurst municipal town office at 705-687-3412 to verify OR call the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) at 1-866-296-6722 to make changes including additions.
“There will be further online tools available to the public leading up to the election process to help register, and we plan to launch a number of community outreach programs over the next few months at various locations. These initiatives will assist the public and help to answer any questions they may have,” said Thibeault.
The Gravenhurst election ballot will include selections for; mayor, council, district Chair and public and Catholic chool boards.
- Those who are interested in running for mayor or councillor are able to begin filing their nomination paperwork with the town clerk as of May 1.
