GRAVENHURST — The Gravenhurst Horticultural Society board is working hard to bring the Society an interesting renewal in 2018.

Gardening Together Wednesdays.

At the first meeting at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre on March 20 at 7 p.m. Peter Wood brings us a most interesting presentation on repurposing items in the garden. Peter has been an avid gardener, historian and community advocate in Bracebridge for many years.

Members can look forward to using the grow room.

One new thing to look forward to in 2018 is Gardening Together on Wednesday once a month (the day after the general meetings) at the Main Street gardens.

We are hosting the District 18 Fall Workshop and have an exciting speaker on a new topic lined up along with a fantastic hands-on workshop.

Also new this year is the start time for meetings. It has been moved to 7 p.m. to accommodate an earlier finish which will make it easier for speakers as well as members.

Your board looks forward to updating members on our exciting year ahead.

Sign up for the day trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens near Guelph at lilac time on June 7.

Cost will be $55 for members, $65 for non-members and includes entry. There will be a pick-up in Bracebridge as well as Gravenhurst.

Membership remains $10 a year with a $2 fee at each meeting to help meet the cost of renting the room and kitchen as well as tea and coffee.
