Abandoned ATV may be tied to illegal fishing

PARRY SOUND —  An abandoned ATV may be tied to a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry investigation into a fishing violation here.

MNRF investigators are looking for the owner of this abandoned ATV.

The MNR says in a release Monday that it is seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for placing set lines in a fish sanctuary.

They say that on March 13, 2018, conservation officers discovered ATV tracks leading to three set lines frozen in Wahwashkesk Lake in McKenzie Township, near Parry Sound.

There, officers found an un-plated and unregistered yellow Suzuki ATV, a 10-inch ice auger and an axe, all of which were seized.

They ask that if you have any information about this incident, please contact the MNRF TIPS line at  1-877-847-7667 toll-free any time, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
